Hi, I'm Jennifer!
I am a positive and curious person originally from Canada. Working with people inspires me, especially when discussing motivation and change. I am ambitious and enthusiastic, as well as sensitive and responsive to the needs of others. I have a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, and a Bachelor of Science -Specialization Psychology Degree, from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada. I am a certified Psychological Coach and have several years of experience working with people, motivation and change in Canada and Sweden.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time and laughing with family and friends, traveling, camping in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, working-out “Zumba-style”, playing the piano, and scrapbooking.

20 years Experience Practicing and Training Motivational Interviewing (MI)
Warm and Professional MI-Practitioner
I have over 20 years of experience in practicing my own skills in MI in client-counsellor situations and in group settings. For 13 years, I was employed by the Swedish Criminal Justice System as a Program Leader where MI was the foundation for all motivational and treatment programs offered individually and/or in groups. I applied MI in situations involving behaviour change in a number of areas including alcohol and substance abuse, criminal behavior, violence, victims of sexual offences, eating disorders, self-esteem, boundary setting, impulse control, and other physical and psychological issues.​
Knowledgable and Competent MI-Trainer
I have a lot of experience training and coaching others in MI within various occupational settings through my previous work in the Swedish Criminal Justice System, as well as in my own company, NovoVia Consulting. In 2003, I became an in-house MI trainer for the Swedish Criminal Justice System and have since then trained and coached staff in prison and probation. Through my own company, I have since 2007 trained and coached individuals in most areas of the social services such as welfare, unemployment, child welfare, psychiatry, and addiction. I have also trained and coached individuals in schools, private treatment centres, and homes for unaccompanied minors. I am ambitious, creative and like to work with tools adapted to the participant such as role plays, group work, group exercises, video recordings, pictures, playing cards and games.
Member of Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT)
In 2011, I completed an international training for new MI-trainers (TNT) in Sheffield, England and have been a member of the international Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) and their chapter in Scandinavia, MINT Nordic. In September 2018, I became a member of the board of directors of MINT Nordic as the Treasurer/Member's Administrator..
