- Do you enjoy creative exercises and learning through discussion?
Then the MI SPIRIT Card Game is for you!
This interactive card game helps teams deepen their understanding of the core spirit of Motivational Interviewing while sparking meaningful dialogue and reflection. It’s a simple, engaging way to keep MI alive in your workplace.
The MI SPIRIT Card Game includes 28 cards (5.8 cm x 8.8 cm):
4 title cards representing the core elements of MI spirit: Partnership, Compassion, Empowerment, and Acceptance
24 statement cards describing attitudes and principles that reflect the MI spirit in practice
Working in small groups of up to five people, participants discuss the meaning of each statement and decide which element of MI spirit it belongs to. For example, the statement “MI is done with another person, not to them” reflects the collaborative nature of MI and belongs under Partnership.
Through discussion, reflection, and shared insights, the group places each statement card under the title card that best represents its meaning.
The activity continues until all cards have been explored—creating rich conversations about what MI looks like in real interactions.
✨ A fun, thought-provoking, and budget-friendly way to learn, reflect, and strengthen MI practice together.
